Diane Brooks MSW, LCSW

Welcome, my name is Diane Brooks and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. I started my career in Maryland working with teenagers in detention and residential centers. After moving to Colorado 11 years ago, I have been working with children, teenagers, and adults. I initially started in a private practice model in community mental health and as part of an Integrated Behavioral Health Team in a Pediatric office. For the past eight years I have solely been in private practice. I have significant experience in working with older children, teenagers and adults who are struggling with issues of trauma, depression, anxiety, mood issues, grief and loss, and adjustment issues. I have compassion and focus on meeting individuals and families where they are with promoting a welcoming environment to work on some of the more challenging times of our lives.
I am known for taking a strengths-based approach and supporting people with learning coping strategies to manage the challenges that occur throughout one’s life. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and what I do.
Trauma work is an area I am passionate about and specialize in. I have a lot of experience helping individuals work through symptoms of trauma and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I am EMDR Trained and Certified through EMDRIA. I am also currently an EMDR Consultant-In-Training (CIT). I have additionally trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma (Level 1 Certificate from the Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Training and Education and Trauma Focused-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills training.
